Sipping on a refreshing drink on a porch or patio is one of my summer hobbies. This summer, I’m focusing more on non-alcoholic beverages to liven up my summer sipping.
I may be late to the game, and maybe it’s just me, but mocktails are having a moment.
Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a glass of wine or margarita, but recently I’ve been reconsidering alcohol and have been looking for alternatives. My interest in mocktails was piqued by one of my favorite Peloton instructors, Callie Gullickson, and one of my favorite Instagram follows, Cassie Kelley. They both have excellent recommendations for non-alcoholic beverages and wine. Plus, they’re just super fun women!
For this week’s post, I’m sharing three mocktails you can try this summer.
Callie’s Sparkling Pink Lemonade
Lemon Sparkling Water
Low-Calorie Pink Lemonade
Sliced Strawberries
Drink Glitter
Place strawberry halves in the bottom of your glass. Top with ice cubes. Next, add your lemon sparkling water about 3/4 of the way up the cup. Follow that with a splash of pink lemonade. Make it fun with a dash of glitter.
Callie’s Spicy Margarita Mocktail
One shot of Ritual Tequila alternative
Trader Joe’s Limeade
Sliced jalapenos
Mineral water (like Topo Chico)
Fresh lime
Add the Ritual tequila alternative, about a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of TJ’s limeade and a couple of jalapeno slices to a beverage shaker and shake! Grab your glass of ice and pour the mixture over the ice. Add a splash of mineral water and a squeeze of fresh lime. For bonus points, rim your glass with Trader Joe’s Chili Lime seasoning.
While I was researching mocktails, I came across another great follow, MocktailGirlie on TikTok (she’s the same username on Instagram). Here’s her twist on an Arnold Palmer – and who doesn’t love an Arnold Palmer?
Mocktail Girlie’s Watermelon Arnold Palmer
3 oz lemonade (I would go for a low-calorie version)
3 oz cooled ice tea
Ice
Lemon to garnish
Muddle a handful of cubed watermelon in the bottom of a beverage shaker. Add your tea, lemonade and SHAKE! Pour over ice and enjoy!
