There’s a Yiddish proverb that says: “{Wo}Man plans and God laughs.” (“Wo” added by me.)
I do think our plans can cause God to giggle sometimes. But even more, I think we plan and Life says, “Awww, look at her. She has a good idea backed up with a perfectly written out plan and editorial calendar. Isn’t that sweet.”
Enter chaos.
Life happens. It just does. And since my last post, it happened to me. But you know what else happens? Grace.
Life happens, therefore grace. #juliewrites #gooddaygirl Click To TweetAs a Christ follower, I’m also a firm believer in the existence of the Enemy. You can bet anytime a child of God is sharing Scripture, trying to walk in obedience and loving others, an attack from the Enemy isn’t far behind. That doesn’t always mean something major, like a bad health report, loss of a job or family crisis. Sometimes it is packaged as overwhelm, anxiety and over-crowded schedule. In fact, I’d say that’s the case over 50% of the time.
Why toss out a huge difficulty when a handful of small disturbances will be enough to cause the target to veer off the track?
Off track is where the good news lies, though. Off track is not broken down. It’s just off track. We get to choose to restart, get ourselves turned around and get back on track. What assists us in getting our derailed selves back into position is the grace we get from those around us: our friends, our community, our readers.
That’s what’s happening here. I’m turning the wheel and getting back to where we left off. In the Good Day Community, we believe in not allowing bad moments to make for bad days. But that doesn’t mean every day is perfect. So when the not necessarily bad, yet terribly overwhelming moments cause a temporary skid, we extend grace and hope and encourage each other back onto our paths.
Thanks for your grace when I was blindsided a bit by life in the midst of our Strength of Character Training series. The dust has settled, I’ve turned this car around, and we’re getting back to plan. Because even though our plans don’t always work out like we want them to, we have the confidence of knowing if we are seeking the Lord in our plans, ultimately His plan (which is always the best) will be done.
“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) Or my personal favorite translation from the Message:

I’m new here, but oh…GRACE! I can extend it, but HE will shower you with it. Thanks for your transparency and I’m just praying now that God is giving you clear vision. xx
