“He {God} faithfully appoints people to walk with us at every single stage of our journey here on earth.”
I agree wholeheartedly with Sophie Hudson here. My own life is a testament to how important my girlfriends are to me and how I COULD NOT do life without them. #squadgoals
The tagline reads “Because women need each other.” Totally true. But Giddy Up, Eunice isn’t a book about how women need relationships with other women their age going through the same stage of life. Sophie’s word to women is more than that and, honestly, it made me uncomfortable.
Here’s my confession: teenage girls and older people alike intimidate me.
But, as Sophie encourages just pages into the first chapter, we are to put aside generational differences and be about outdoing each other in love. In Eunice, Sophie shares why we as women need to be about investing in the lives of those behind us and soaking up the wisdom of those before us.
Sophie uses her own delightful anecdotes and Biblical examples to help the reader fully understand the importance of cultivating and growing strong bonds across generations. Reading this book, written in pure Southern twang, will make you even more grateful for the female relationships you already have in your life while also stirring within you the desire to invest in the lives of those older and younger. You’ll be surprised at how much you can learn from both, and in return how much they can learn from you. Sophie’s call to action for us isn’t just one that makes sense for our gender, it comes from a solid Scriptural base, including Eunice who left quite the legacy.
As Sophie states, “At every age and stage of life, women need other women who will listen, confirm, teach, bless and pray.” In Giddy Up, Eunice, Sophie unpacks the importance and how-to of this with hope, delight and the kind of humor that will make you smile until your face hurts, cry tears of joy and sadness and laugh until you snort. And, in the event you ever need it, you’ll know some potential options for how to drag/haul/steal a cast-iron sink with your car.
Being a member of the launch team for this book was a treat! I absolutely devoured this book, realizing a craving for relationships I didn’t know I had. My church small group is reading it as a summer book club instead of doing a standard Bible study. I’m happy to share the questions I am creating for our group with anyone who might be interested. Just use the Contact Me form to let me know.
